RRP: £12.99 Our Price: £2.53 (subject to change) Reviewscoolio Review date: 2008-09-29 Rating: 10 out of 10 very gud book just reading through th domenata for third time it so gud starts slow but gets faster and probaly has the best endings of all books ive got through a clue: the boy who runs fast is on the cover great horror series Review date: 2008-08-29 Rating: 10 out of 10 From the first moment in book one, Lord Loss, when Grubbs Grady encounters the Demonata and their evil minions it is obvious to the reader that Darren Shan books are from a different dimension. You really have to read them with an open mind, and a slightly twisted one too! The heroes are constantly changing, from Grubbs in book one to Kernel Fleck in book two, back to Grubbs in three and then Bec in some of the later episodes. Whoever is in charge you can absolutely guarantee a frightening ride through another world, which Shan depicts so very well. As far as teenage horror goes this is about as entertaining as it gets. You cannot compare it to the real horror masters, such as James Herbert, Shaun Hutson, Brian Keene or Conrad Jones, but they are truly entertaining, even though the storylines are flimsy to say the least, they are still excellent reading. Fantastic Review date: 2008-08-26 Rating: 10 out of 10 a great new book in the demonata series bec is the narrator (following the pattern, look out for grubbs as the next narrator) and this has plenty of action scenes and grisly bits like you would expect. in short a very good book A Fan Disappointed Review date: 2008-07-17 Rating: 4 out of 10 As a fervent follower of Darren Shan's books, I felt truly let down by the seventh instalment of the Demonata series. There was a distinct lack of the fast-paced, page-turning action and danger that the other six had so richly possessed and much of it was unfortunately slow, with a few brief exceptions. For the first time in all my years of reading Darren Shan novels, I had to make an effort to read what is usually 'unputdownable' work. It seemed like the whole book could have been easily condensed into a few chapters. After the dramatic ending to the previous book, I was looking forward to following Grubbs's story and, despite the partially refreshing change of narration, I felt that Bec wasn't suited to narrating an entire story in a world that wasn't her own, without the flair that had been so good in the fourth book. On the other hand, there were a few brilliant twists and the climax was satisfying in a way the rest of the book hadn't been. Despite the disappointment, I would still recommend all the previous books and hope that the next instalment displays the brilliance that I have come to expect.
